Thai and Japanese food dominate. Safire’s menu includes curry, sushi, seafood and duck, and there’s an impressive selection of beer, wine and cocktails.
The dining room at this downtown Lake Worth eatery is tiny. Modern art on the walls and electronic music on the speakers pump up the hipness quotient. There are a few tables on the sidewalk outside.
OUR FAVORITE FOOD/PRICE
The grilled scallops over noodles ($23) boasted four large scallops and a generous serving of noodles and vegetables. The pineapple fried rice ($16) wasn’t quite as tasty but won style points — it was served in half a pineapple. The poached pear ($8) in a big puddle of dark chocolate also was a hit.
REASON TO GO
Cool ambience and creative menu.
Our waitress was friendly and attentive.
There were only a few other diners during our visit, so noise levels were modest. But the dining area is so small that we could imagine the noise levels picking up on a crowded night.
Not especially. Our kids enjoyed the miso soup ($4) and spring rolls ($6), but the entrees were a bit exotic for their tastes, and there’s no kids menu.
