Everywhere you turn these days someone is talking about cheating. So it should be no real surprise that cheating is at the heart of "Sex and the City 2," the sequel to 2008's hit movie based on the cult HBO show. (Full review)
Because it's a commodity, and not a simple movie, Sex and the City 2 starts out more concerned with throwing bones to fans than with making sense. The film opens with a long, lavish gay wedding that has nothing to do with anything that follows and seems suspiciously like a way to please a specific segment of the series' fans. Which is kind of nice, really, although one could argue that subjecting the audience to Liza Minnelli's Single Ladies (Put a Ring On It) is not only cruel but also unnecessary. SATC2 is practically Avatar-length for no good reason; musical numbers are superfluous. (Full review)
