All I can say is, try this place and let the food do the talking.
Family owned and run, just really nice people too. You won't be disappointed. Come hungry !
Have been several times now and all i can say is Wow, I love the Sauce that's what makes Mrs Smokey's different, they tell me it's a secret recipe that people have been dying to
get their hands on, but if you want to try it you have to go get some! its great on the ribs and I love the pork sandwich, tots are amazing, I love this place for lunch or dinner, it's consistently good.. never had a bad meal..
This little BBQ joint has great taste and attention to detail. I love the hometown feel. Really good sides, great homemade sauce and delicious 'cue. I had the ribs and pork, both were tender and had great flavor. Definitely will be coming back when Im in the area!
All I have to say is if you want the juiciest, fall off the bone, great BBQ then Mrs. Smokey's is the best.
They might not be the biggest location, but that's why its so great! It's the little secret of Lake Park that nobody knows about and should know about!
They are friendly and the portions are perfect for everybody to enjoy. Make no mistake they are not a chain that skates around quality. They prepare everything down to the tiniest detail, ensuring you are going to have a one of a kind experience!
I don't know what the other reviewers are talking about. This BBQ Restaurant has barely been open a month and I've already been there 4 times. The first time I had a backyard bbq salad trying to go the healthy route. It was delicious, had all the ingredients I like and none that I don't, and I was totally full after yet still wanted more BBQ Brisket, lol. I also tried their Fried Pickles, who's ever heard of such a thing, but they were excellent. My only complaint was that their home-brewed iced tea cups are too big, didn't fit into my car's cup holders, but that's just cause those German engineers don't care much for cup holders.
On the second visit I went for a platter eager to try more things. I actually asked for one that's not even on the menu, brisket and bbq chicken. Had it with coleslaw and potato salad, but wished they would have had some collard greens or steamed veggies, most people will love their sides though, I just try to stay as healthy as I can while still eating some BBQ. The meal was good, but I think next time I might actually try the Medium instead of the Mild sauce just so I can compare, personally when I think BBQ sauce I'm thinking sweet, I think that's a different style.
Then last weekend I got invited to a pot-luck picnic, and I really didn't feel like cooking, so I called up Mrs. Smokeys BBQ and ordered one of the Family Feasts. Boy was that a great sampling of most of what they offer, bbq ckecken, pork, beef, ribs and some other stuff. And I could not resist eating a fried biscuit, which was amazing actually.
My last visit I had the backyard BBQ salad again, it was even better than the first time, with more bark on the meat. And I also tried the Smoked Chicken Soup which was just perfect.
I'd recommend this family owned and operated BBQ restaurant to any barbeque food lover. Check out their website: http://www.mrssmokeys.com
BBQ ribs are ok but they have no dry rub or bark on them. Pulled pork sandwich is good with a decent smoke flavor. 3 sauces are offered and the mild is really medium heat, the medium is very spicy hot, and the hot will set you on fire.
Sides of mac n cheese are good and baked beans are better than most. On the menu are fried pickles, loaded tater tots, chili, chicken noodle soup, succotash, salads, brisket, chicken, and more. They have a fried biscuit that I didn't much care for. They have an open kitchen and the place is clean and new inside.
I was excited to see a new BBQ joint in North County but it fell short of my basic expectations.I ordered the combo beef and pork platter. The meat was cooked to perfection and quite flavorful but the sauce that was heaped on top was like....ketchup with a bad attitude.Very bland with a bad after taste. For my sides,I had BBQ Beans which I assume were loaded with the BBQ Sauce and were almost inedible. The cole slaw was very bitter. For an appetizer I ordered Loaded Taters with Chili and cheese.Once again the bland bad after taste. But,the fried bisquits were the bomb. Its too bad because the staff was very friendly and very attentive. My companion ordered the pulled pork sandwich with the same sides and was equally disappointed.I am not a food expert by any means but being a southern boy I DO know BBQ and this "aint" it.Sorry guys!

The 'cue shack on 10th Street in Lake Park is a welcome addition to the neighborhood. And I use the word shack with affection. (Full review)
The barbecue sauce at Mrs. Smokey’s is so popular that it is sold by the bottle.
