I recently went to Pelican again after about 6-8 months. The reason for my long absence is that the owner made bad remarks to his staff and talks down to them. The food is not as good as it used to be and he prices have gone up considerably. Too bad, it was a cute place, with decent food and reasonable prices at one time.

I am not a "foodie" or a reviewer, but an everyday person who enjoys a great meal and good service. I had both! We live over an hour away, but were in the area around dinner time so our friend we suggested we meet there. She had eaten at the Pelican a couple of times and raved about it.
We were not disappointed with anything! Once I heard about the grouper special, with all of my favorites, a reduction of lemon/butter, wild mushroom risotto and sauteed spinach, I knew there was no reason to look at the menu (even though I did).
We started with the calamari appetizer, which had a tangy/sweet/hot sauce on it. It was fabulous! A great combination of flavors, very tender and tasty. The grouper was grilled, perfectly cooked, moist and delicious. The risotto and spinach were also perfectly prepared and presented. My husband had the linguine with white clam sauce. Both clams in the shell and chopped clams. A LOT of them! He raved about it and sopped up the sauce with the crusty bread that was served when we were seated.
We were all full but decided to split a piece of the cheesecake. The waiter told us the owner's mother baked the cheesecake served with black cherry sauce. The cheesecake was incredibly light and fluffy, but creamy and tasty. Just enough sweetness from the graham cracker crust and tang from the lemon zest. I can't wait to go there again and try new dishes. It will be difficult to try something different when these items were so good!

The have a couple of really good burgers and a crabcake sandwich on the menu but that is all I have tried so far for lunch. Onion rings are some of the best around.

I took my family who were visiting from Connecticuit to the Pelican cafe for dinner. I had heard from a freind how nice the place was.
My wife had stuffed lamb and I had artichoke ravioli. The food was perfect, lobster bisque was out of this world. My brother in law is still raving about the place.

Last night we tried the Pelican Cafe for the first time. There were four of us at dinner and each ordered something different. My husband had a pasta dish which he ordered with additional garlic. When it arrived, neither of us could taste the garlic, and when he commented on that, he was brought a plate of chopped up raw garlic. One of the other folks in our party ordered the chicken piccata. She did not finish it, commenting that it was very bland. I had the seared tuna. It was okay but not great. It is a charming little place. I just wish that the food was a bit more tasty.
